Predictors of mortality and length of stay in patients with hospital-acquired Clostridioides difficile infection: a population-based study in Alberta, Canada

アルバータ州における医療関連クロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridioides difficile）感染症を有する成人患者 5,304 例（病院数 101）の集団を対象とした 5 年間後向きコホート研究において、30 日全死因死亡率は 12.2％、寄与死亡率は 4.5％であった。75 歳超の患者は、寄与死亡の確率がもっとも高く（オッズ比［OR］9.34、95％信頼区間［CI］2.92 ～ 29.83）、平均入院期間の差が最大であった（11.7 日、95％CI 8.2 ～ 15.2）。新たな知見は、入院時の白血球数の増加が、寄与死亡率の低下と関連したことであり（OR 0.67、95％CI 0.50 ～ 0.90）、これはさらなる研究に値する。加齢は、漸増的かつ有意にあらゆるアウトカムと関連した。
