現在、マイクロファイバークロスと、水、洗浄剤または消毒薬との併用が、病院における清掃に推奨されている。本研究では、マイクロファイバークロスと、水または洗浄剤／消毒薬または殺芽胞製剤との併用について、黄色ブドウ球菌（Staphylococcus aureus）、アシネトバクター・バウマニー（Acinetobacter baumannii）およびクロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile）芽胞に対する有効性を、標準試験ASTM2967-15を用いて検討した。洗浄剤／消毒薬または殺芽胞製剤の使用は、水のみの使用と比べて、細菌および芽胞の生存抑制能、ならびに表面間における微生物の伝播抑制能が有意に優れていた（分散分析［ANOVA］、P＜ 0.001）。水のみとマイクロファイバークロスの併用は効果がより低く、殺生物製剤の代わりに使用すべきではない。

監訳者コメント：
マイクロファイバークロスによる拭き取りは、清掃効果が期待され、芽胞の伝播を防ぐと考えられてきた。ただし今回の検討では殺芽胞製剤を併用した場合、除去効果が高く、伝播も少なかった。現在、介護・療養型施設の環境に C. difficle の芽胞が存在し、高齢者に伝播、発症させる経路が注目されており、このような経路の遮断の方策に、本検討は有用かもしれない。
