尿培養によるアンチバイオグラムは、尿路感染症（UTI）の経験的治療の指針として使用されている。しかし、尿培養のほぼ 50％は無症候性細菌尿を有する患者由来である。無症候性細菌尿を有する患者の腸内細菌科細菌が、UTI 患者と同様の耐性パターンを示すかどうかは不明である。そこで、本研究では、無症候性細菌尿を有する患者と症候性 UTI 患者の抗菌薬耐性パターンを比較することを目的とした。耐性パターンに大きな差がみられなかったため、無症候性細菌尿を有する患者を含むアンチバイオグラムによって経験的治療の選択が決定されうる。

本論文より、尿培養によるアンチバイオグラムを作るときに、保菌と有症状を区別する必要はないことが再確認できたと思われる。
