消化管内視鏡が関連したカルバペネム耐性腸内細菌科細菌（CRE）によるアウトブレイクの報告を受けて、内視鏡洗浄の新しい評価法についてレビューおよび研究を行った。本研究では、内視鏡手技実施前の内視鏡の衛生状態を確認するためのアデノシン三リン酸（ATP）の生物発光について評価を行った。内視鏡 127 本を対象に、ATP 検査を微生物学的モニタリングと比較した。洗浄、再処理および保管後、ならびに内視鏡手技実施直前にサンプルを採取した。我々は、内視鏡手技の実施前に、微生物学的検査の代替として定期的に ATP 検査を実施することを推奨する。ATP 検査により、内視鏡の衛生状態について簡便な評価を行うことができ、安全性と質の保証が可能になる。

監訳者コメント：
使用前の内視鏡の清浄度を確認するため微生物学的検査と ATP 検査を行い、比較した論文である。結果として培養陽性の内視鏡は全くなかったが、ATP 検査では、設定した基準値以下ではあるが、値はばらついていた。培養陽性であった場合は ATP 検査でどのような数値が示されるのかが気になった。
