背景
C型肝炎ウイルス（HCV）感染は、世界的に健康上の重大な負担となっている。腎医療ユニット滞在中に HCV 感染歴のなかった患者 1例に、HCV セロコンバージョンが認められた。
目的
医療現場での HCV 伝播の原因を仮定するためのシークエンシングの使用と、その結果が我々のアウトブレイク調査に及ぼした影響を報告すること。
結果
感染制御調査に基づき、伝播の事象は、血液による病棟の環境汚染と、その後の HCV 感染患者への静脈内介入処置からの播種によるものと推測された。我々は、アウトブレイク調査の結果を踏まえて、導入する介入策を検討した。
結論
医療関連 HCV 感染では、シークエンシングをアウトブレイク調査のルーチン手順に取り入れるべきである。
