Reduction in Clostridium difficile infection associated with the introduction of hydrogen peroxide vapour automated room disinfection

クロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile ）感染症（CDI）患者が退室した病室に蒸気化過酸化水素（HPV）消毒を実施し、臨床的効果を検討した。毎月の CDI 発生率を算出する分割時系列解析を行うと、HPV 消毒が実施された時点で発生率の有意な減少（P ＜ 0.001）が認められ、HPV 使用前の 2 年間は 1,000 患者・日あたり 1 件であったものが、使用後の 2 年間は 0.4 件となった。CDI 患者の退室した病室の最終消毒を徹底するために HPV を検討するべきである。

監訳者コメント：CDI の伝播には環境表面も重要である。実際に新病棟に移転すると CDIが減少することが経験されている。HPV は紫外線に比べ、C. difficileの芽胞を大きく減らすことが報告されており、その点でも HPV は有効であるかもしれない。実用可能性に関する検討が進むことに期待したい。
