資源が限られた環境における帝王切開後の手術部位感染症（SSI）の決定因子および特徴に関して利用可能なデータはほとんどない。我々は前向き観察コホート研究を実施し、タンザニアの Dodoma Regional Referral Hospital（DRRH）の産婦人科における帝王切開後 SSI の発生率、決定因子、および微生物学的特徴の評価を試みた。3 か月の期間にわたり、帝王切開を受けたすべての妊婦を登録し、30 日間の追跡調査を行った。帝王切開後の SSI は 224 例（48％）の女性で発生した。10 例（2.1％）の女性のみが、切開前の抗菌薬予防投与を受けていた。感染症の予防と制御、ならびに DRRH において上昇中の帝王切開後 SSI の発生率を抑えるために、緊急の介入が必要である。
