Viral hepatitis B and C outbreak related to parenteral treatment at an oncological department in Slovakia

同一の腫瘍病棟に入院歴のある 4 例の患者が、ウイルス性肝炎（B 型およびC 型）を発症したことが地域の公衆衛生当局に報告された。これを受けてアウトブレイク調査が開始され、2009 年 9月から 2010 年 7 月の間に入院した患者のうち、47 例が HBV ないし HCV に罹患し、39 例が肝炎を発症していたことが明らかになった。そして注射による治療と肝炎発症との間には有意な相関があった（B 型肝炎_χ² ＝ 49.53、P ＜ 0.001、C 型肝炎_χ² ＝ 22.42、P ＜ 0.001）。使い捨て器具を使用していたにもかかわらず、標準予防策の徹底が不十分であったために、病院内で血液媒介ウイルス感染症が伝播するリスクが依然として存在していたものと思われた。

監訳者コメント：
血液媒介感染症である HBV、HCV は、観血的処置によって伝播することが多く、例えば透析患者においてその感染率が高いことが知られていた。一般病棟における処置ではこれらの感染リスクは非常に低いが、今回の事例では改めて基本的予防策の不徹底や破綻が発生に結び付くことが確認された。
