Infections due to Elizabethkingia meningoseptica in critically injured trauma patients: a seven-year study

エリザベトキンギア・メニンゴセプティカ（Elizabethkingia meningoseptica）は、病院感染のまれな原因である。本研究ではレベル I の外傷センターの 7 年にわたる E. meningoseptica 感染の臨床的および微生物学的特性を報告する。臨床検体から E. meningoseptica が 2 回以上分離された患者の医療記録を検討した。研究期間中に計 21 例が確認され、そのうち 16 例（76.2％）で多剤耐性が認められた。確認された院内死亡率は 47.6％であった。感染を疑うための高度な指標と、臨床検体中の E. meningoseptica の効果的な検出が臨床的転帰改善の必要条件である。

監訳者コメント：
E. meningoseptica は一般に使用される抗菌薬に広く自然耐性を有するため、起炎菌を想定にいれた検査診断と感受性試験が求められるとしている。検出された患者での死亡率は 48％となっていた。外傷センターの報告であり、全体像や患者背景は説明されておらず、気になるところである。
