Characterizing the burden of invasive Pseudomonas infection on neonatal units in the UK between 2005 and 2011

新生児室におけるシュードモナス（Pseudomonas）属菌感染に関する懸念事項は、主としてそのアウトブレイクである。本研究では、NeonIN Neonatal Infection Surveillance Network に参加している英国の 18 の新生児室における 2005 年 1 月から 2011 年 12 月の侵襲性 Pseudomonas 属菌感染症例の解析を行った。報告された症例は 39 例であった。ほとんどの症例（39 例中 36 例、93％）が遅発性であり（中央値 14 日、範囲 2 ～ 262 日）、発生率が最も高いのは超低出生体重児で、全症例が散発性であった。症例の 3 分の 1 では侵襲性感染症に先立って保菌が確認された。侵襲性感染症による死亡率は 18％であった。この重大な病原体による侵襲性感染症の予防機会を重視すべきである。

監訳者コメント：
18 施設から集められた症例を丁寧に解析した論文である。背景に大きな違いがないにもかかわらず、参加施設中 6 つの NICU では調査期間中に対象となる症例がゼロであったこと、また、治療に苦慮する耐性緑膿菌の割合は低かったことが明らかになったが、いずれも明確な理由はわからなかった。1 施設ごとでは症例数が少ないためにこのような解析が困難であり、貴重な報告である。
