An outbreak of Burkholderia multivorans beyond cystic fibrosis patients

バークホルデリア・セパシア（Burkholderia cepacia）complex（Bcc）は日和見感染病原菌であり、嚢胞性線維症患者に重篤な感染症を引き起こすことがある。著者らは最近、Olomouc 大学病院で Bcc による感染のアウトブレイクが疑われる例を見いだした。患者 52 例から Bcc 74 株が分離され、患者の大半（48 例）は嚢胞性線維症ではなかった。最も多く分離されたのはバークホルデリア・マルティボランス（Burkholderia multivorans）（46 株）であり、このうち 24 株（52.2％）はクローン性であった。これらのうち 15 株は集中治療室の患者から分離され、これらの患者の 5 例は病院肺炎により死亡した。B. multivorans は、嚢胞性線維症以外の患者にも重篤なアウトブレイクを引き起こすことがある。
