Factors influencing stethoscope cleanliness among clinical medical students

本研究の目的は、現代の英国の医学部にみられる聴診器に関する衛生習慣および態度を明らかにすることである。リッカート尺度および自由回答形式の質問票に医学生が記入した。対象学生は 750 名で、このうち合計 308 名（41％）が回答を記入した。回答者の 22.4％は自分の聴診器を洗浄したことがなく、患者の診察後に自分の聴診器を毎回洗浄していたのは 3.9％のみであった。洗浄頻度との間に有意な相関が認められた因子は、手本となる行動をとる他者がいること（P ＝ 0.001）、聴診器の洗浄法を知っているという自信（P ＝ 0.001）、および洗浄は重要であると考えていること（P ＝ 0.01）であった。これらの結果から、教育および手本となる他者が不適切であることが、問題である可能性が示された。
