Classification of MRSA cases detected at the time of hospital admission: does the ‘look-back’ period matter?

感染制御のための医療資源には限りがあるため、効率的な院内サーベイランスを行う必要がある。著者らの病院サーベイランスシステムから特定したメチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus；MRSA）保菌症例を対象として、入院前の遡及期間が 12 か月の場合と 4 週の場合で症例の属性（医療関連か非医療関連か）が異なるかどうかを明らかにするための調査を実施した。2 例が非医療関連から医療関連へ分類変更となり、4 週の場合と 12 か月の場合での分類変更率は 2％であった（P ＝ 0.857）。記録の後向き調査を最小限とした感染制御プログラムを適用することによって、誤分類によるデータの質の低下を招くことなく、時間と資源を節減することができると考えられる。
