Rapid environmental contamination of a new nursing home with antimicrobial-resistant organisms preceding occupation by residents

ナーシングホームは抗菌薬耐性菌のリザーバとなる。本研究では、新築のナーシングホームで抗菌薬耐性菌による環境汚染が発生するまでの期間を調べた。入居中のナーシングホームと建て替えた新築ナーシングホームの環境部位（それぞれ 18 か所、21 か所）を、入居者が建物間を引越しする前後 11 週間にわたってモニタリングした。新しい建物の性能検証（コミッショニング）中にメチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus；MRSA）が検出され、入居後には建物全体に高い頻度で認められた。基質特異性拡張型β-ラクタマーゼ産生大腸菌（Escherichia coli） O25b:ST131 が 1 回検出された。

監訳者コメント：
この論文によると、新築のナーシングホームであっても、入居した 1 ～ 2 週間後には、床、ドアノブ、テーブル、椅子などの環境サンプリングの約半数から MRSA が検出された。入居者やスタッフの MRSA 保菌率は調査されていないものの、ひとたび使用し始めれば、施設環境の至る所が汚染されていると考え、標準予防策や接触予防策を実施する必要性が再確認できた。
