What can we learn from each other in infection control? Experience in Europe compared with the USA

欧州と米国の感染制御実践は過去 50 年間をかけて、医療関連感染の制御・予防のための種々のアプローチをもたらしてきた様々な技術開発、歴史的経験、および研究施設の影響を受け、確立されてきた。この記述的レビューの目的は、医療関連感染および抗菌薬耐性の制御・予防のための最良の実践を明らかにするために、欧州と米国の歴史的経験や提唱されている方法・方策から学ぶべき最も有用な教訓は何か、という疑問に回答することである。本総説は、争点のある科学的問題に関する現行の議論を展開することや、今日の病院疫学の網羅的な歴史的レビューを意図したものではなく、米国の影響を受けた病院疫学と、欧州の微生物学に基づく従来の衛生学とのギャップを埋めることを目指した個人的な見解であると考えていただきたい。
