Pre-incision antibiotic prophylaxis reduces the incidence of post-caesarean surgical site infection

オーストラリアの大規模地域病院で、帝王切開後の手術部位感染症（SSI）発生率を、抗菌薬予防投与の時期を臍帯クランプ後から切開前に変更する前と後で比較評価する 2 部構成の前向き研究を実施した。SSI 発生率は 2010 年の 10.8％から 2011 年には 2.8％に低下し、新生児への有害な影響はみられなかった。したがって、オーストラリアおよびニュージーランドの病院で帝王切開を施行する場合は、切開前に抗菌薬予防投与を行うべきであるというさらなるエビデンスが得られた。これは、すでに他国では受け入れられている臨床実践である。
