Nosocomial myiasis in a patient with diabetes

本稿では、ニクバエ科の Sarcophaga (Bercaea) africa の幼虫による院内蠅蛆症の症例を報告する。この寄生虫症は、2 型糖尿病患者の踵の潰瘍で発生した。産卵時は潰瘍はドレッシングで被覆されていた。Sarcophaga の幼虫がドレッシングを通過して化膿した創部に到達できることを確認するための実験を行った。蛆蝿症は医療機関の衛生基準の評判を損ない、法的問題が発生する可能性があり、これを回避するためには、院内で特別な注意と教育、および専用のプロトコールが必要であることが本稿から示された。

蛆虫療法（マゴットセラピー；maggot therapy）と呼ばれる、ハエの幼虫である蛆（マゴット；maggot）を使った方法で糖尿病患者の傷の治療が行われることがあるが、いずれにせよ、糖尿病性壊疽患者の病変部の衛生管理は徹底する必要がある。
