患者数の多い教育病院の新生児集中治療室における面会者の手指衛生遵守および感染制御手順の改善を主要な目的として、コンピューターを用いた視聴覚式の新しい感染制御対策を企画・設置・検証した。このシステムは安定性が高く、外注が不要であり、安価で、事前の教育・研修が不要であることが判明し、迅速な配置と即時の使用が可能である。この対策の導入後に、面会者の手洗い技術、および手洗い時の留意事項の記憶に明確な改善が認められた。このシステムは、面会者に対して感染制御対策の教育・推進を図る新たな機会を提供するものである。
