2009 年 12月、日本の大学病院の集中治療室に入室中の 76 歳の男性患者がバークホルデリア・セパシア（Burkholderia cepacia）による肺炎を発症した。その後の感染源特定のための環境調査により、患者の義歯の保存液中から DNA 型が一致する B. cepacia が検出された。環境清掃に使用されている 0.2％アルキルジアミノエチルグリシン塩酸塩溶液含浸レーヨン不織布の開封済みパックが、B. cepacia、アルカリゲネス・キシロソキシダンス（Alcaligenes xylosoxidans）、シュードモナス・フルオレッセンス（Pseudomonas fluorescens）、および緑膿菌（Pseudomonas aeruginosa）に汚染されていることが判明した。未開封パックから得た 42 サンプル中 5 サンプルから、DNA 型が異なる B. cepacia が検出された。
