Epidemiological survey of Clostridium difficile ribotypes in the North East of England during an 18-month period

18 か月間にわたり、英国北東部で臨床検査によりクロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile）感染症が確認された症例からの便検体 1,606 件を対象として、症例を選択せずに、PCR 法によるリボタイピングを実施した。これらの検体のうち 87.6％は培養により C. difficile を認め、70％は識別可能な 10 種類のリボタイプのいずれかに分類され、頻度が高いリボタイプは 001、106、および 027 であった。試験期間中にリボタイプ 002 と 015 の割合が減少したのに対して、リボタイプ 016 と 023 は増加した。リボタイプ 005 は男性で有意に多く、リボタイプ 027 は平均年齢が高いことと有意に関連していた。著者らの知見は、選択された症例の検査に基づく全国データとは異なるものである。
