Delivering the infection control message: a communication challenge

背景
世界各国の病院の感染制御チーム（ICT）は、特定の情報や多様な情報を必要としている関係者に対して適時に情報を伝達するという課題に常に直面している。
目的
探索的な記述的研究デザインにより、マルタの St Luke’s 病院の ICT と医療従事者とのコミュニケーションの流れを調査した。
方法
自記式質問票を用いて、入院病棟に勤務する看護師（143 名）と医師（63 名）の層別無作為抽出標本からデータを収集した。回答率は 97％であった。
結果
医療従事者は、自分と同一の職種の職員から情報を受けることが最も安心であると感じていた。情報伝達は主として組織階層の縦方向に上行および下行した。回答者は、情報の望ましい受け取り方は、教育活動を通じて（35％、69 名）および対面（31％、62 名）であるとした。電子的手段（電子メールやイントラネット）は望ましい手段としての順位は低く、勤務中にコンピューターに定期的にアクセスしている回答者は 41％（81 名）のみであった。91％（181 名）という大半の回答者は ICT からの情報を信頼しており、60％（118 名）はその情報には一貫性があると認めていた。しかし、これは常に遵守されることを示しているのではなく、54％（106 名）の回答者は自身の健康リスクを認識して初めて感染制御対策を実行した。病棟での ICT の強化が推奨される。
結論
電子化の時代にもかかわらず、ICTと医療従事者との対面接触が依然として感染制御情報を伝達する最も有効な方法であることが、本研究から確認された。
