集中治療室で静脈内投与に使用されたシリンジを培養し、その分離株を当該患者の陽性血液培養からの分離株と比較した。全体の汚染率は 16％であり、インスリンなどの細菌増殖を促進する薬剤に使用されたシリンジは、汚染率がより高かった。すべてのシリンジはルーチンに 6 時間後に交換すべきである。
