Sustained low prevalence of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus upon admission to hospital in The Netherlands

1999 年から 2000 年のオランダにおける病院入院時のメチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus；MRSA）保菌率は 0.03％であった。本研究の目的は、オランダにおける MRSA 保菌率の過去数年の変動を評価することである。オランダの 5 病院の患者 6,496 例を対象として、2005 年 10 月 1 日から 2007 年 6 月 7 日に入院時の鼻腔内黄色ブドウ球菌保菌のスクリーニングを微生物培養により行った。合計で 6,496 例中 2,036 例（31.3％）が鼻腔内に黄色ブドウ球菌を保菌し、7 例（0.11％）は MRSA 保菌者であった。オランダ人集団の入院時の MRSA 保菌率は、1999 年から 2000 年までの期間と比較して 3 倍を超えて上昇したが、この上昇は有意ではなかった（P ＝ 0.06、Fisher の正確確率検定）。この保菌率は依然として世界最低レベルであり、おそらくはオランダの感染制御方針が厳格であること、およびオランダでは抗菌薬の使用が制限されていることに起因すると考えられる。
