幹細胞培養におけるシュードモナス・メンドシナ(Pseudomonas mendocina)の偽性アウトブレイク★

シュードモナス・メンドシナ(Pseudomonas mendocina)は、アルゼンチン・メンドーサ州で採取された土壌および水サンプルから 1970 年代に初めて分離された。この細菌がヒトの尿と下肢潰瘍を除く臨床検体から分離されたと報告されたのは、1992 年の P. mendocina による心内膜炎の症例報告が初めてであった。この論文は、血液内科部門における診断用幹細胞培養からの P. mendocina 検出について述べる。3 件の診断用幹細胞培養から P. mendocina が同定されたためにアウトブレイク調査を開始した。診断用幹細胞培養に用いる調整用試薬を培養して P. mendocina を検出した。試薬製造会社でさらなるアウトブレイク調査を実施したところ、試薬の汚染が確認された。これは市販の「無菌」試薬からの P. mendocina によるアウトブレイクの最初の報告である。結論として、この環境病原体は臨床の現場で使用される試薬の汚染を引き起こす可能性がある。P. mendocina を検出した場合、病院職員に試薬汚染の可能性があることを警告すべきである。

新たな医療技術は新たな感染症リスクを生じる。遺伝子治療や再生医療などの技術革新が現実化すれば、医療関連感染予防制圧プログラムがカバーしなければならない領域はますます拡大する。感染対策担当者は常にアンテナを広く拡げておかなければならない。
