プラスチック製オープントレイ表面の3×105 cfu/mLの結核菌（Mycobacterium tuberculosis）風乾試料の、過酸化水素ドライミスト（Sterinis）による汚染除去能を測定した。過酸化水素ドライミストによる汚染除去法を、通常の3サイクル、または効果を倍にするため6サイクル施行したが、有意な汚染除去効果は認められなかった。

最近は特に米合衆国を中心に、環境に由来する強毒性クロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile）や高度耐性アシネトバクター・バウマニー（Acinetobacter baumannii）の脅威から環境制御のための方法論が見直されているが、科学的根拠はさらに議論される必要がある。
