Direct costs associated with a hospital-acquired outbreak of rotaviral gastroenteritis infection in a long term care institution

2008年1月に高齢患者用長期ケア施設で、ロタウイルス性胃腸炎アウトブレイク中に63例の患者が感染した。本研究の目的は、このアウトブレイクに関連した病院の直接費用を評価することである。カルテと病院財務部門の両方から費用に関するデータを収集した。アウトブレイクに関連する病院全体の費用は17,959ユーロ、1例あたりでは285.1ユーロであり、その内訳は、検査・治療費4,948ユーロ、隔離のための費用4,400ユーロ、感染制御スタッフ1,879ユーロ、その他のスタッフが4,170ユーロ、および病床使用日数の損失2,562ユーロであった。このアウトブレイクに要した費用から、アウトブレイク早期発見と感染制御対策の実施が重要であることが強調される。

ノロウイルス感染症やC. difficile感染症と異なり、ロタウイルス感染症の集団発生に関する報告は多くない。本論文でも述べられている通り、重症化例が少ないのがその一因であろう。本論文は、フランスの高齢者用長期ケア施設での集団発生に関して、主にコストの面から検討しており、興味深い論文である。
