Educational intervention for preventing bloodborne infection among medical students in China

医学生に血液媒介感染リスクがあることは周知であるが、これまで中国には系統的な研究や有効な介入プログラム、血液媒介感染予防に関するガイドラインはなかった。著者らは予防ガイドラインを作成して、介入を実施するとともに、医学生における知識の有効性を評価した。この研究のデザインはクラスター無作為化対照試験である。同意文書を提出したすべての医学生を介入群あるいは対照群のいずれかに無作為に割り付けた。介入群では、ベースライン調査の後に、講義とビデオによる一連の教育的介入プログラムを実施した。対照群には研究が終了した後に同一の介入プログラムを実施した。最初の介入プログラムを実施してから3か月後および9か月後に25項目からなる質問票を参加者に送付した。アウトカムとして伝播経路、応急処置および曝露後予防に関する知識を介入の前後に評価した。バイアス補正の上でPearson χ²検定により医学生への効果を分析した。血液由来病原体に関する教育的な予防プログラムを1回で実施するという介入は、中国の医学生における知識に及ぼす効果がほとんど認められなかった。

監訳者コメント：
いくら教材に工夫しても座学だけで知識を定着させることは難しい。医学教育の領域では、“See one, do one, teach one（見て覚えて、実践して習得し、教えてさらに理解を深める）”というフレーズが頻用される。やはり実践を伴わなければ知識の定着から成人の行動変容へと至ることは難しい。
ちなみに、最近では“See one, do one, teach one”というのでは不十分であるとされており、“See one, stimulate many, do one completely, and teach everyone（見て覚え、シミュレーションを数多く繰り返し、医療行為は確実にできて、そしてみんなに教える）”というようである。
