Evaluation of contamination by blood aerosols produced during various healthcare procedures

本研究の目的は、歯科処置、顎部顔面手術、および剖検中に生じるエアロゾル中の血液含有量を測定し、血液含有エアロゾル曝露による感染リスクが最も高い処置を同定することである。数か所の歯科処置用個室、1か所の顎顔面手術室および剖検室から、合計132の空気サンプルを採取した。サンプル中のヘモグロビン（Hb）濃度を測定し、採取日ごとに吸引空気1 m³あたりの血液濃度（血液μL/空気m³）を算出した。Hbは38.64％のサンプルから検出された。サンプル中の平均Hb濃度は吸引空気1 m³あたり0.10±0.19 μg Hbであった（範囲0～0.72 μg Hb/m³）。調査した3種類の処置中の吸引空気1 m³あたりの血液含有エアロゾル濃度には、統計学的有意差は認められなかった（P＞0.05）。現在のところ、血液含有エアロゾルを介した感染リスクは明確には示されていないが、エアロゾルおよび飛沫の産生や飛散を最小限に抑えることが強く推奨される。

監訳者コメント：
エアロゾルに含有された血液よりも、エアロゾルに混入している微生物のほうが感染症のリスクとなるはずである。耳鼻咽喉科領域で使用しているノズル類には無数のエアロゾルが付着しているはずであるが、なぜか医療器械でノズルがディスポーザブルである製品を開発しているメーカーは見当たらない。不思議ですね。
