Achieving optimal influenza vaccination rates: a survey-based study of healthcare workers in an urban hospital

米合衆国では、毎年、インフルエンザウイルスによって36,000例以上の死亡と114,000例以上の入院が発生している。医療従事者はインフルエンザ流行の主要な発生源であることが判明している。すべての医療従事者がワクチンを接種すべきであるという米国疾病対策センター（CDC）の勧告にもかかわらず、接種率は依然として低い。インフルエンザワクチン接種率および関連因子について、調査に基づく研究をある都市型地域教育医療施設で実施した。合計570件の調査から、参加者のインフルエンザワクチン接種率は56.5％であった。ワクチン接種を受けた参加者は、受けていない参加者と比較してインフルエンザに対する知識スコアの平均値が有意に高かった（P＝0.003）。また、ワクチン接種者と、ワクチン接種の目的は患者をインフルエンザ曝露から防ぐことであるという認識との関連も認められた（P＝0.001）。最後に、管理職がワクチン接種を積極的に奨励促進した病院の診療科では、一般に接種率が高かった。

監訳者コメント：
医療従事者がインフルエンザワクチンを接種することは、自分を護るだけでなく、患者を護る観点でも重要であり、医療機関にあっては患者安全の重大課題であると認識すべきである。しかし、一般的には、わが国の医療従事者のほうがインフルエンザワクチン接種率が高いようであり、接種率90％を超える施設も少なくない。
毎年のインフルエンザワクチン接種は医療従事者のルーチン業務であるべし。
