Results from the Scottish National HAI Prevalence Survey

2005年10月から2006年10月の1年間にわたり、スコットランドで全国的な点有病率調査を実施した。医療関連感染有病率は、急性期ケア病院で9.5％、非急性期ケア病院で7.3％であった。急性期ケア病院で入院患者の医療関連感染有病率が高かった診療科は、高齢者ケア科（11.9％）、外科（11.2％）、内科（9.6％）、整形外科（9.2％）であった。有病率が最も低かったのは産科（0.9％）であった。急性期ケア病院の入院患者で多かった医療関連感染の種類は、尿路感染症（全医療関連感染中17.9％）、手術部位感染症（15.9％）、消化管感染症（15.4％）であった。非急性期ケア病院では、内科（11.4％）と高齢者ケア科（7.8％）の2科を併せると入院患者の10例に1例（内科11.4％、高齢者ケア科7.8％）、精神科では入院患者の20例に1例（5.0％）に医療関連感染を認めた。非急性期ケア病院の患者では、尿路感染症の頻度が高く（全医療関連感染中28.1％）、皮膚・軟部組織感染症（全医療関連感染中26.8％）も同等であった。非急性期ケア病院のすべての入院患者の4％が、この2種類の医療関連感染のいずれかに感染していた。今回の調査はスコットランドでは初の試みであり、国レベルの医療関連感染の負荷を明らかにするものである。
