Propionibacterium acnes contamination in lumbar disc surgery

これまでの研究により、Propionibacterium acnesが重度の坐骨神経痛患者の椎間板の軽度感染症の原因である可能性が示されている。本研究の目的は、腰椎椎間板ヘルニア手術中に採取した椎間板断片サンプル中の細菌の存在を前向きに調査することである。調査した患者54例中2例（3.7％）の椎間板断片からP. acnesが培養された。さらに、これらの2例の患者の黄色靭帯および筋肉の対照培養もP. acnes陽性であった。同様の対照培養により、さらに10例（18.5％）の患者でP. acnes陽性であった。手術中に採取した4例の空気サンプルにはすべてP. acnesが含まれていた。層流キャビネット内の対照培養でも、54例中3例にP. acnesが認められた。腰椎椎間板断片培養でP. acnesが存在する原因として最も可能性が高いのは、サンプル汚染であると考えられる。

Propionibacterium acnesが検出されたかどうかを評価しており、分子疫学的な評価はなく、インパクトは低い論文に終わっている。
