Infection control and management of MRSA: assessing the knowledge of staff in an acute hospital setting

メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（MRSA）に取り組んだ最近の研究の多くは、病院の衛生に焦点を当ててきたが、MRSA保菌患者または感染症患者の治療と管理について、病院職員がどれだけ理解しているかは不明である。この研究の目的は、急性期ケア病院におけるMRSAおよびその管理について職員の知識および認識されている方策を評価することである。さらに、職員がMRSAのリスク、管理、治療に関する情報や教育に関して必要であると感じていることの特定を目的とした。質問票調査は、調査日を定めた集団面接または個別面談により実施した。質問票の項目は感染症と保菌、治療、および地域におけるサポートと助言の利用可能性であった。174件の回答があり、医師と看護師がほぼ同数であった。MRSAとその管理について多くの点で知識が不十分であったが、MRSAについてもっと情報が必要であると感じていた参加者の大半は知識の不足を認識していた。この調査により、MRSAに関する適切な知識および専門技術を職員が有しているという前提に立つべきではないことが示された。ケアおよび管理の種々の点について認識が隔たっていることが浮き彫りになり、情報と教育が必要であることが判明した。
