The first prevalence survey of nosocomial infections in the University Hospital Centre ‘Mother Teresa’ of Tirana, Albania

院内感染の罹患率および危険因子の推定を目的として、アルバニアで最大規模の病院で調査を実施した。2003年10月から11月に、内科病棟、外科病棟、および集中治療病棟で1日の罹患率調査を実施した。米国疾病対策センター（CDC）による定義を使用した。調査項目は、患者および病院の特性、手術手技、侵襲性器材、抗生物質治療、微生物学的検査および放射線検査、感染の徴候および症状などであった。ロジスティック回帰により危険因子を判定した。合計で、登録患者968例中163例から185件の院内感染が認められた。最も頻度が高い院内感染は尿路感染（33.0％）、手術部位感染（24.3％）、肺炎（13.0％）、および血流感染（9.2％）であった。院内感染罹患率は、集中治療室（31.6％）のほうが外科病棟（22.0％）および内科病棟（10.3％）よりも高かった。全体で、微生物検査によって確認された院内感染は132件（71.4％）であり、最も分離頻度の高かった微生物は黄色ブドウ球菌（18.2％）であった。ロジスティック回帰により、年齢＞40歳、入院期間、入院時の「外傷」の診断、および侵襲性器材の挿入が独立した危険因子であると判定された。比較は極めて慎重に行うべきであるが、院内感染罹患率は、西欧諸国および一部の発展途上国よりも高かった。
