この10年間、創傷治療は大きく改善している。しかし、目的とした使用以外での、これらの影響についてのデータはほとんどない。本研究は、身近な環境の細菌汚染に対する創傷洗浄剤（wound cleanser）使用の影響を明らかにすることを目的とした。研究室または臨床環境において、創傷由来の細菌が創傷洗浄によって空中細菌になったという証拠はほとんど見いだされなかった。創傷周辺の細菌の拡散は、創傷洗浄ではなく病院職員の通常の活動によるものと考えられる。簡単な注意が払うことで、創傷清浄中の病院および診察室における職員および患者のリスクを最小化することができる。
