Discrepancy between self-reported and observed hand hygiene behaviour in healthcare professionals

病棟で医療従事者71名の手指消毒行動を合計132時間観察し、手指消毒の機会1,284回を認めた。参加者が記入した質問票を使用して、実際の行動と自己報告した行動、手指消毒に対する意志および姿勢を比較した。観察された行動から、ガイドラインの遵守率が非常に低いことが明らかになり、医療従業者が、メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌保菌患者に対してさえ、リスクを考慮していないことが示唆された。観察された行動と、医療従事者の意志および自己報告した行動との関連はみられなかった。この結果は、態度、意志、または自己報告した行動の修正を目的とした手指消毒への介入では、行動を変更できない可能性が高いことを示唆しており、これをどのようにすれば改善できるかを考慮する必要がある。
