乾拭き後の湿性洗浄および湿性洗浄後の乾拭きの2つの清掃方法を、ワックスを塗ったポリ塩化ビニル製および磁器タイル製の2種類の病室の床で比較し、それぞれの汚染除去能力を判定した。乾拭き後の湿性洗浄の場合、平均微生物量に有意な減少は認められなかった。しかし、湿性洗浄後の乾拭きの方法では、どちらのタイプの床でも微生物量が減少し、その差は統計学的に有意であった。
