Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: awareness and perceptions

本研究の目的は、メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（MRSA）感染に対する英国保健医療サービス（National Health Service；NHS）の患者・来訪者、および職員の認知度とリスク認識を調査することである。また、特にMRSAの情報源について、両コホートの相違を調べた。2005年3月に、予備的な質問票を患者・来訪者50名およびNHS職員100名（医師25名、看護師25名、清掃職員25名、運搬職員25名）に配布した。運搬職員からの回答はなかったが、全体の回答率は67％であった。MRSAの認知度は、患者･来訪者（94％）とNHS職員（100％）のいずれも高かった。患者・来訪者の情報源としては一般向けメディアが最も多かった（68％）が、NHS職員では24％であった（P＜0.01）。MRSA感染のリスク認識は、患者･来訪者とNHS職員でほぼ同等であった（34％対35％、P＞0.10）。感染のリスクがあると感じている医師は52％、清掃職員は13％であった。結論として、本研究により一般市民と医療従事者の認知度は同様に高いことが示された。
