背景
カンジダ・オーリス(Candida auris)が 2009 年に最初に報告されて以来、この酵母は臨床現場における重要な病原体の 1 つとなっている。C. auris は医療施設のさまざまな表面で検出されるため、適切な消毒法の対象である。C. auris に対して有効性が証明されている消毒薬による予防法を実施する必要がある。
目的
C. auris の化学物質耐性を、European standard(EN)で確立されている代用試験微生物カンジダ・アルビカンス(Candida albicans)と比較した。この方法により、EN 13624 および EN 16615 により試験した消毒薬が、C. auris に対して少なくとも同等に有効であるか否かについて結論が得られるであろう。
方法
化学物質に対する C. auris および C. albicans の感受性を、標準化された EN 試験プロトコルを用いて試験した。本試験では、EN 13624、EN 16615 により、市販の 2 種類の表面消毒薬(それぞれ、アルコールベース、四級アンモニウム化合物ベース)を調べた。さらに、2 種類の酵母菌種の生存率を、実際の条件をシミュレートする既定の試験表面で観察した。
結果
C. albicans と比較して、C. auris は、本試験で使用したアルコールベースまたは四級アンモニウム化合物ベースの消毒薬に対する感受性が有意に高いことが確認された。C. albicans は、EN 16615 の試験表面上の乾燥に対して耐性がより強く、回収率がより高かった。
結論
EN 13624 および EN 16615 による殺酵母作用を目標とする場合、C. albicans は適切な代用試験微生物であり、ヒト病原体 C. auris に対する有効性も内在する。

監訳者コメント:
カンジダ・オーリス(C. auris)はカンジダ・アルビカンス(C. albicans)とほぼ同等、あるいはそれ以上に、消毒薬に感受性が高いことを明らかにした論文である。エタノールも 50%以上で有効であり、通常の消毒で効果が期待できる。
