Successful control of nosocomial transmission of the USA300 clone of community-acquired meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in a UK paediatric burns centre

英国の小児熱傷センターで 2010 年 1 月から 2 月に、市中獲得型メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（community-acquired meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus；CA-MRSA）の Pantone–Valentine 型ロイコシジン（PVL）陽性 USA300 クローンのアウトブレイクが発生した。患者 4 例、職員 2 例、患者の家族 1 例に保菌・感染が認められた。アウトブレイク株は当院の環境サンプルに認められた他の MRSA 分離株と同様の抗菌薬感受性を示したが、この環境分離株は患者 1 例と職員 1 例に同時に皮膚感染を認めた際に同定されたものであり、これ以外に環境分離株は検出されなかった。感染制御対策として、職員と患者のスクリーニングおよび除菌、環境サンプリング、清掃の強化などを実施した。無症状の職員および環境からアウトブレイク株が分離されたことから、英国の病院内では CA-MRSA が生存しており、流行をもたらす可能性が示唆される。
