The power of vivid experience in hand hygiene compliance

近年になり、手指衛生行動に関する一部の研究に系統的行動理論が導入されている。最もよく知られた理論の1つに、計画的行動理論（theory of planned behaviour；TPB）がある。今回の定性的研究は、急性期ケア領域における感染予防実践に関する理解の向上が目的であり、既存の教育や訓練の効力を改善する可能性がある新たな知見を得るための適切な枠組みとして、計画的行動理論を取り上げた。研究から派生する理論では、手指衛生行動を説明するには、個人的経験のほうが形式的な教育よりも重要であるという知見に基づくものであった。このことは、代償的な鮮烈な経験が、既存の訓練法の効力の改善、および持続可能で適切な手指衛生習慣の定着の向上を図る手段となる可能性を示している。

アルキメデスは “Eureka! Eureka!（わかったぞ、わかったぞ）” と叫び、また、茂木健一郎氏は「アハ体験」を喧伝する訳であるが、やはり経験に基づかないことにはヒトは学べないということか。ヒポクラテスは「経験は欺く」とのたまったが。
手指衛生は感染予防管理の基本であり、すべての医療従事者が積極的に習慣とするべきであるが、その定着は難しく、永遠の課題のように思えることも少なくない。
